Student Fashions Featured in City’s Event for New Bostonians

May 25, 2011

Several Lasell fashion students have been chosen to show their culture-inspired designs at a fashion event at Boston City Hall sponsored by the Mayor's office of New Bostonians.

The event, New Boston Focus on Fashion, will be held Thursday, May 26 at Boston City Hall from 12 to 3 p.m.

The five Lasell designers, Christine Lam, Noemy Santos, Tiffany Toy, Shinecka Jack, and Yuki Kanai, will join other students from Massachusetts College of Art and Design, School of Fashion Design, Fisher College and Mount Ida College at the event.

These students will each showcase a collection that involves their own creations inspired by their cultural heritage. They will also have the opportunity to present their work at a press conference and share with the audience the parts of their culture that influenced their designs.

The designs from Lasell students were inspired by cultures in Japan, Trinidad, China, Laos and the Cape Verde Islands.
