Spiritus: A Celebration of Remembrance

November 4, 2011

The annual Spiritus event, sponsored by the College's Graphic Design League, combines art, music and remembrance, highlighting traditions from Day of the Dead and All Souls Day and bringing them to campus.

With glowing images of those remembered in the Wedeman Gallery and a vibrant celebration at Yamawaki auditorium participants at the Nov. 3 event experienced a wide variety of traditions.

Each year Lasell graphic design and art students create artwork in remembrance of those who have passed. Each student chooses a person who has had a significant impact on their life. These include relatives, friends, and others, such as musicians, artists and authors, who have influenced the artists' lives or work.

The artwork by graphic design students will be at Wedeman Gallery through November 11.

Spiritus, which is the brainchild of Graphic Design Professor Stephen Fischer, was also supported by Professor Margo Lemieux, Professor Hortense Gerardo and Professor Richard Bath.
