Rising Senior, Communication Major Named Semi Finalist for National Retail Federation Scholarship

July 28, 2016

Communication major Jamie McTigue '17 has been named a semi-finalist for a $25,000 scholarship from the National Retail Federation.

The NRF Foundation announced 25 semi-finalists for its Ray Greenly Scholarship, which provides financial support to students pursuing degrees in fields related to digital retailing.

McTigue, of Selden, NY, and other applicants from more than 40 schools nationwide were required to submit an innovation essay and personal brand video and create a brand experience for real-world retailers for the 2016 Scholarship.

Digital retail executives from more than 35 companies including Walmart, Macy's, Walgreens and Under Armour served as judges to select the 25 semi-finalists based on the creativity and entrepreneurial spirit demonstrated in their applications.

Five finalists will be announced at Retail's Digital Summit in Dallas in September, with four students receiving a $10,000 scholarship each and one receiving $25,000. The semi-finalists receive travel scholarships to attend the 2016 Shop.org Digital Summit in Dallas, September 26-28

The scholarship was established to honor former Shop.org Vice President Ray Greenly, who died of cancer in 2005. The program provides financial aid to students studying in fields such as engineering, computer science, marketing, business, e-commerce and economics.
