President Alexander Speaks at Education Conference

January 31, 2014

President Michael B. Alexander recently spoke at the District 1 annual conference of the Council for Advancement and Support of Education on a panel outlining local colleges' experiences following the Boston Marathon bombing last April.

President Alexander served on a panel January 30 that also included representatives from Emerson College, Berklee School of Music and the University of Massachusetts - Dartmouth. Each representative described the challenges and obstacles created by the bombing, from the closure of school to student injury to, in the case of Lasell, having student volunteers at the finish line as the bombs went off.

Alexander described the chronology of events and the college's response in support of five student athletic training students and two faculty members who volunteered to assist runners during the marathon. The students were positioned at the race finish line to help runners in need of medical attention.

President Alexander Responds to the Tragedy in Orlando  Thursday, June 16, 2016We the people of the United States cherish our freedoms. Whether it be the freedom to say what we want, to assemble in groups of our choosing, to follow the religions of our choice, to vote as our conscience demands, to own and carry weapons, to start new businesses and make money, and to move about as we please -- these are values we hold dear and are reluctant to compromise.
