Lesley Visser to Deliver 2017 Commencement AddressLasell College is pleased to announce that Lesley Visser, a pioneering broadcast sports journalist and media personality, will deliver the 2017 Lasell College Commencement address.

Ms. Visser has a distinguished résumé which includes a roster of career "firsts." She is the first woman the Boston Globe hired as a sports reporter, the first woman to cover the National Football league (NFL) on a regular basis for any media outlet, the first female NFL color analyst, the first woman to cover the World Series for the network broadcast, the first woman to be recognized by the Pro Football Hall of Fame, and the first woman sportscaster to carry the Olympic Torch.

Along with her current reporter duties on CBS's The NFL Today, Ms. Visser also contributes to We Need To Talk, the first all-women's network sports talk show, and CBS's coverage of the NFL Playoffs, the Super Bowl and the NCAA Division I Men's Basketball Championship and Final Four games. Known throughout her four-decade journalism career for focusing on substance over style, Ms. Visser takes her role as a media mentor seriously, often reaching out to help young female reporters navigate the sports TV industry.

Among the numerous honors Ms.Visser has received are the Compass Award for "changing the paradigm of her business" and recognition by the Museum of Television and Radio for "a career that has broken many barriers and defined previously unimagined roles for women in professional sports and sports broadcasting."

A Quincy, MA native, Ms. Visser holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in English from Boston College and an Honorary Doctorate in Journalism from her alma mater. She resides in Bal Harbour, Florida, with her husband, Robert Kanuth, a former Harvard University basketball captain.

Lasell College President Michael Alexander will be presenting Ms. Visser with an honorary Doctorate of Humane Letters at the 163rd Lasell College Commencement ceremony at 11:00 a.m. Sunday, May 14th on Taylor Field.
