It's a Win: Lasell Team Wins Honors at Fashion Show

A team of Lasell Fashion Department students and professors took first place in the School Category at the IIDA (International Interior Design Association) New England 2010 Fashion Show Benefit Gala at the Westin Copley Place Hotel in Boston on Thursday, October 28.

The team included Professors Anne Vallely, Jill Carey and Lynn Blake along with four students: Sam Marquis, Charles Newman, Jenney Dube and Jenna Greenblatt. The Lasell group presented a line called (R)evolution using non-traditional materials to focus on four time periods: 1770 - Marie Antoinette, 1870 - Bustle, 1970 - Long Coat and 2070 - Body Suite.

The competition paired design teams with interior design vendors. Two area interior design showrooms, Arc-Com Fabrics, Inc. and McKearney Associates, Inc., sponsored the Lasell team.

Last night at the Westin Copley The Lasell Fashion Dept participated in a design competition using materials from the interior design industry. The fashion show competition was part of the IIDA (International Interior Design Association) annual conference.

Merchandising assistance for the project was provided by graduate student Vicky Anson, alum Elisa Bronstein  '10 and Mary McKean - '12. Amanda Saladino - Fashion Design '11 assisted the team with the creation of millinery pieces for the project.

Lasell College Wins NEA Grant to Create Online Fashion Design Catalog  Thursday, May 2, 2013Lasell College President Michael B. Alexander announced today that the College is the recipient of a $20,000 2013 National Endowment for the Arts matching grant to assist in the creation of an online fashion design catalog. The Lasell grant proposal was one of 50 grants funded by the NEA in its Art Works Design category.
