Lasell Students and Alums Represent at Boston Fashion Week

October 06, 2014

Lasell student and alum designers and fashionistas have been working hard behind the scenes in various roles for Boston Fashion Week, which runs Oct. 5-11.

Lasell fashion alum Julie Kontos, who has featured her designs several times on the Lasell campus, will be a part of the Fashionably Late: Fabulous, Fierce, and Fashion Forward show at the Liberty Hotel Oct. 9.

Kontos, who is one of three designers featured in the show, will offer a collection of "classics with an edge," paired with luxurious handcrafted accessories from Race & Grant. Lasell students also will work behind the scenes and as models.

Current Lasell fashion students had their own shot at the spotlight at an event before Boston Fashion Week at the Institute of Contemporary Art/Boston in an installation October 3 called Fashion Fusion.

Lindsay Griffin, Lauren Meunier and Sinora Noun presented their "Fall Looks" at the event.

Both students and alums will work at The Emerging Trends show during Boston Fashion Week on Oct. 11 at Boston Center for the Arts, while Lasell Fashion Professor Anne Vallely will be one of 200 people featured in a photography show called Expressions: the Faces of Boston Fashion also Oct. 11 at W Hotel.

That exhibit will feature over 200 portraits of Boston fashion professionals, past and present who have shaped Boston's fashion industry by 10 photographers;: Tracy Aiguier, Joel Benjamin, Kevin Day, Sadie Dayton, Cory Despres, Michael Diskin, Daniel Gagnon, JJ Miller, Bob Packert, and Cheryl Richards. Produced by Terri Mahn.

Post Boston Fashion week on Oct. 14, Lasell students and their designs will be featured at an event called Timeless Tuesdays at BOND on Franklin Street in Boston at 8 pm. For more information about Boston Fashion Week, visit the online schedule.
