Lasell Receives Third Year Funding from Davis Educational Foundation for Core Curriculum Implementation

July 06, 2015

The College has received a $69,000 Davis Educational Foundation Grant, marking the third year of funding from the organization for revision and implementation of Lasell's new Core Curriculum.

The funds, along with a College match exceeding $35,000, will continue to provide professional development for faculty and will support the purchase of an electronic portfolio system - through TaskStream - that will enable students to upload assignments and projects for faculty review. The system, which will be integrated with the College's existing learning management system (Moodle), will enable faculty to conduct more thorough and consistent assessments associated with Core Curriculum coursework.

A consultant will be hired to assist with the launch of the electronic portfolio, which will be rolled out this Fall in all First Year Seminars. Beyond the new ePortfolio system, the College will finalize design of the Core Curriculum Ethics course, revise Honors seminars and blend Essential Learning Outcomes into capstone and internship courses.

Previous year funding included $106,500 in year one and $74,000 in year two for the Core Curriculum re-design, professional development and the development of assessment tools.

The new Core Curriculum was launched with the incoming first-year class in the Fall 2014 semester.
