Lasell Receives Higher Ed Innovation Award from National Organization

For its work in creating collaborative, cost-saving partnerships with other higher education institutions, Lasell College has received a 2016 Innovation Award from the National Association of College and University Business Officers (NACUBO).

According to NACUBO, Lasell received the award specifically for its collaborations with other colleges that have cut costs, improved services, and enhanced community relations, including a combined police department with Mount Ida College and a shared information technology department with Pine Manor College.

Michael Hoyle, Lasell's Vice President for Business and Finance and Chief Financial Officer, accepted the award for the College at the organization's annual meeting July 16-19 in Montreal.

"I'm honored that our work has been recognized nationally in this way," Hoyle said. "It's evident that creative, innovative thinking and mutually beneficial collaborations will become increasingly essential to the ongoing success and fiscal viability of institutions like Lasell."

In addition to partnerships with Pine Manor and Mount Ida, Lasell also has been a leader in the formation of edHealth, a New England consortium of small colleges that have joined together to control health care costs for their employees. Hoyle, who has been at Lasell since 2008, oversees Lasell's Business Office in addition to its Information Technology, Human Capital Management, Plant Operations, Student Accounts, Conference Services and Auxiliary Services departments.
NACUBO presented its 2016 awards to five higher education leaders and six institutions for their outstanding contributions and innovative programs in higher education business and financial management.

"As we gather to examine the cornerstones of higher education and pave the way for the future, it's fitting that we recognize these meritorious leaders and institutions," commented John Walda, president and CEO of NACUBO at the Montreal meeting. "Each recipient is an example of the best of the sector and its tireless dedication to excellence."
