Lasell Professor Brings Artists' Collaborative Exhibit "Lyrical Visions” to Wedeman Gallery

February 24, 2011

Lasell College and ART/Word will host a unique exhibit blending of art and music during the month of March called Lyrical Visions.

The Lyrical Visions exhibit will open to the public March 1, with an Artists' Reception on March 5 from 7 - 10 p.m. in the Wedeman Gallery at the Yamawaki Art and Cultural Center, Lasell College.
The reception, which officially kicks off the exhibit opening, will include a performance by singer Will McMillan and pianist Doug Hammer at 7:30 p.m. who have to crafted a set of music inspired by color and art.

"ART/Word is an artists' collaborative which first came together in 1981," says Lasell Professor of Art/Graphic Design and founder Stephen Fischer. "Each ART/Word event is an illustrated celebration of artwork specifically created for a chosen theme."

This year's show, Lyrical Visions, uses song lyrics as a creative starting point - and has inspired a mix of illustration, photography and three dimensional art. Each piece is an original work of art displayed with the text of the song lyrics that inspired it.

This year marks ART/Word's 30th year of creating group shows. In the past, themes have ranged from "Generosity, Stories of Kindness, Artworks of Gratitude" to "Lunatics, Art Works Inspired by the Moon".
"Lasell College has been very supportive of ART/Word," says Fischer," and some of my fellow professors and former students are creating work for Lyrical Visions."

The Lyrical Visions exhibit will contain the artwork of 25 artists, and will be available for viewing from March 1, 2, 3, 8, 9, 10, 15, 16, and 17 from 1 - 4 PM on with free admission.
