Lasell Leftovers Donates More Than 2000 Pounds of Goods to Charity

The Lasell Leftovers program, designed to recycle and reuse items left behind by students departing the campus for the summer, has collected and donated more than 2,000 pounds of goods to local charities.

A group of volunteers from various areas of the college worked to sort the items students left for donation including non-perishable food items, clothing and school supplies.

The program is coordinated by Assistant Director, Plant Operations & Sustainability, Roxey Connelly.

The volunteers collected and sorted 2,102lbs of goods including:
• 30 boxes or 1,286 lbs. of clothing
• 11 boxes or 265 lbs. of bedding
• 1 box or 50 lbs. of school supplies
• 1 box or 33 lbs. of household items and
• 7 boxes or 468 lbs. of non-perishable food items.

The donations of clothing and household items will go to Big Brothers Big Sisters of Boston, food to the Newton Food Pantry, bedding to the Massachusetts Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals, and school supplies to Extras for Creative Reuse.
