Lasell Launches Small Business Institute with Kick-Off Event

April 23, 2012

Lasell College this week will launch a new Small Business Institute that connects marketing and management students with local small businesses through Connected Learning activities.

Connected Learning is the College's educational philosophy that involves students in hands-on, project-based learning both inside and outside of the classroom.

As part of the SBI, Lasell students will act as a confidential resource for entrepreneurs, potential entrepreneurs and small business owners in the areas of training, project management and consulting.

To launch the institute, Lasell and the Newton-Needham Chamber of Commerce will host a Small Business Breakfast at Lasell's de Witt Hall from 8 - 11 am on Wednesday, April 25.

During the seminar, representatives from email marketing provider Constant Contact will present on Social Media Marketing.

The seminar is just one of the activities that will be organized by the new SBI at Lasell. Among the activities undertaken by the SBI are: small business conferences and training for faculty, staff, students, small business owners and others.

Primary goals for the SBI include helping small businesses meet to navigate various challenges, developing projects to expand the practice of small business operations, and connecting theories and concepts in marketing and management courses to the components of managing a small business.

The students involved in the SBI will operate under the supervision of an expert faculty member at Lasell.

President Alexander Responds to the Tragedy in Orlando  Thursday, June 16, 2016We the people of the United States cherish our freedoms. Whether it be the freedom to say what we want, to assemble in groups of our choosing, to follow the religions of our choice, to vote as our conscience demands, to own and carry weapons, to start new businesses and make money, and to move about as we please -- these are values we hold dear and are reluctant to compromise.
