Lasell Lacrosse Player Wins Big at HEADstrong Games in Amsterdam
July 15, 2013
Lasell sophomore and lacrosse defenseman Michael Pino took his game overseas this summer as a member of Team HEADstrong -- participating in the HEADstrong Foundation Lowlands Lacrosse Games in Amsterdam June 28-30.
The Tewksbury, Mass. native joined lacrosse players from 20 others colleges on the team, which won the championship title in Amsterdam with an 8-0 record in the games.
"It was a great experience for Mike to be able to play overseas for a summer tournament, which is not something every player has an opportunity to do. Mike is well deserving of the honor and we are proud of him for representing our program and winning a gold medal," said Lasell Men's Lacrosse Head Coach Tim Dunton.
The HEADstrong Foundation is a resource for blood cancer patients and their families with a mission to carry on the legacy and vision of their founder, Nicholas E. Colleluori through advocacy, fundraising and support for those affected by blood cancers.
Colleluori was a lacrosse player at Hofstra University when he was diagnosed with non-Hodgkin's Lymphoma, a disease that eventually claimed his life on November 28, 2006.
The HEADstrong National Team consisted of players from seven states including: Illinois, Indiana, Maryland, Massachusetts, New York, New Jersey and Pennsylvania representing 20 colleges and universities.
