Lasell Installs Michael Bigger Sculpture on Campus

April 11, 2013

Lasell College has installed a large, steel, abstract sculpture, titled "Land, Sea, and Sky" by late sculptor Michael D. Bigger, near East and West residence halls.

Bigger's work was given to the College by Rebecca Miller and Patricia Keppler, both of Westport, MA. The nine-foot tall abstract, multicolored, steel sculpture is permanently situated in the Adelaide Van Winkle '36 Quad between the East and West residence halls.

Bigger, who hails from Minnesota, died in 2011 after a 45-year exhibition career. He showed his work at galleries and museums in New York City, Chicago, Mexico City, and throughout Texas. His work is featured in corporate and museum collections around the country including the Oakland Museum of Art, Cincinnati Zoological Society, Vassar College and the San Antonio Museum of Art. In Minnesota he exhibited at Franconia Sculpture Park and the Western Sculpture Park in St. Paul among other sites.
