Lasell Fashion Program Represented at Boston Globe Event

December 5, 2012

Members and former members of Lasell's Fashion Department participated in a recent Boston Globe sponsored talk about the future of Boston fashion.

The Boston Globe event "GLOBE TALK: Boston Fashion is SMART" was held December 4, 2012 and featured a panel of six fashion industry professionals who discussed the future of fashion in Boston and how to position the city as a world fashion leader.

Four of the six participants have a connection to Lasell College, which illustrates the reach Lasell's fashion program has had within Boston's fashion scene. The panelists included: Jay Calderin, Director of Creative Marketing at the School of Fashion Design, Founder/Executive Director of Boston Fashion Week and a former adjunct professor at Lasell; Christopher Muther, Style Reporter for the Boston Globe and former adjunct professor; Alexandra Hall who launched COUP magazine, taught in the Fashion Communication Program and currently hosts Lasell senior Alexis Robertiello as an intern; Alicia Kennedy, who currently teaches 20th Century Fashion at Lasell and has co-authored a book entitled "Fashion Design Referenced" to be published by Rockport Press in 2013 with illustrations by Lasell Fashion Department Chair Lynn Blake.

Other panelists included Valerie Fletcher from Design Industry Group of Massachusetts (DIGMA), and Michelle McCormack, Digital Consultant and producer of Fashion's Night Out.
