Lasell Alum to Appear on Next Season of Project Runway

June 19, 2012

Lasell Alumna Sonjia Williams, Class of 2007, has been chosen to appear in the 10th season of Project Runway on the Lifetime Television Network. Williams graduated from Lasell with a B.S. in Fashion Design and Production in December 2007.

Williams, who is one of 16 designers chosen for the next season of Project Runway, will appear on the show starting on July 19, 2012.

"She literally went from Lasell to tryouts for Project Runway. She got pretty far the first time. She said to me ‘I am going to be on that show,'" remembered Professor Lynn Blake, chair of the Fashion Department at Lasell.

Williams, who is featured in videos on the Project Runway website, was impressive at Lasell, according to Blake.

"She was unbelievable she was a really great craftsperson. She is very, very talented. She could make something out of nothing," said Blake.

Blake said she remembered Sonjia as a driven and confident designer with her eye on success.

President Alexander Responds to the Tragedy in Orlando  Thursday, June 16, 2016We the people of the United States cherish our freedoms. Whether it be the freedom to say what we want, to assemble in groups of our choosing, to follow the religions of our choice, to vote as our conscience demands, to own and carry weapons, to start new businesses and make money, and to move about as we please -- these are values we hold dear and are reluctant to compromise.
