Lasell Adjunct, Former General Counsel Named New Middlesex DA

Marian Ryan, a Lasell adjunct professor and a longtime official in the Middlesex County District Attorney's Office, was named on April 23 as the next Middlesex County District Attorney by Gov. Deval Patrick.

Ryan most recently served as General Counsel and previously was chief of the Middlesex County District Attorney's Elder and Disabled Unit. Ryan fills a vacancy created by the departure of Middlesex DA Gerald Leone.

Ryan began as an adjunct professor at Lasell in 2005 and has taught classes including Criminal Investigations, Introduction to Legal Studies, Criminal Law, The American Court System, Evidence and Justice, Law and the Constitution, according to Lasell Professor and Chair of the Justice Studies Department, Linda Bucci.

"Marian is an experienced litigator beloved by both the students and the Justice Studies faculty. She is a valued member of the Lasell community serving on our Program Advisory Board and sitting on panels for Legal Studies/Pre-Law students about careers in the law and law school," Bucci said. "We all congratulate her."
