Homelessness Examined in Photography Exhibit at Wedeman Gallery

January 31, 2011

Lasell College announces the opening of a new exhibit Homelessness From Our Eyes: A Photography Exhibit by Waltham Day Center Guests, at the Wedeman Gallery at Lasell's Yamawaki Art and Cultural Center.

The exhibit, which examines homelessness from the eyes of photography by day center guests, will run from February 3- 24, 2011 and is a result of a community service project created and conducted by a Lasell honors class last fall.

Sharyn Lowenstein, the Director of the College's Center for Community-Based Learning, created the project to help her honors students have a deeper understanding of homelessness. Students worked with day center guests to chronicle a "day in the life" photography experience from the guests' perspective.

On Thursday, February 10, 2011, all members of the community are invited to the official opening of the exhibit at the gallery. The exhibit was previously shown in Waltham last fall.

The Waltham Day Center is the only day center in the Metro-West region providing guests with food, shelter, access to computers and a mailing address. For more information on the Waltham Day Center, visit www.communitydaycenter.org. Visit the Yamawaki center webpage for more information about the arts at Lasell.
