Gov. Deval Patrick Visits Lasell Village, Signs Silver Alert Legislation

Massachusetts Governor Deval Patrick visited Lasell Village today as part of a ceremony to sign the Silver Alert Community Response System bill into law. The legislation intends to help Massachusetts families find lost elders with dementia who have wandered away. The bill will also provide dementia specific training for first responders and public safety officials.
The Governor was grteeted by Lasell president Michael B. Alexander and Vice President for Lasell Village Paula Panchuck as well as residents of Lasell Village.
In addition, several members of the Lasell Village retirement community and officials from Lasell College attended the ceremony, which was held in the Lasell Village ballroom. Those giving brief remarks included Lasell President Michael B. Alexander, State Sen. Cynthia Creem, State Rep. Ruth Balser, State Sen. Rob O'Leary (bill sponsor), Gerald Flaherty, Vice President of Medical and Scientific Programs for MA Alzheimer's Association, and State Secretary for Elder Affairs Ann L. Hartstein.
