Fashion Professors to Discuss “Men of the Cloth” Documentary about the Art of Tailoring at MFA

December 08, 2015

Fashion professors Lynn Blake and Carol Emanuelson will discuss the new documentary Men of the Cloth -- about the lives of three Italian master tailors -- following its Boston premiere screening at Museum of Fine Arts Boston on December 10.

The film, by Producer/Director Vicki Vasilopoulos, was 11 years in the making and highlights three tailors who confront the decline of the apprentice system in the twilight of their careers. Men of the Cloth will be screened at the Museum of Fine Arts Boston from 7 - 9:20 pm in the Harry and Mildred Remis Auditorium (Auditorium 161).

Lasell Fashion students will have free admission and transportation from campus to view the film.

In addition to Blake, Professor of Fashion Design and Chair of the Fashion Department, and Assistant Fashion Professor Emanuelson, the question and answer following the film screening will include master tailor Alan Rouleau of Alan Rouleau Couture on Newbury Street, Boston; retired master tailor Joe Calautti of Rizzo Tailor in Cambridge, MA; and Michelle Finamore, the MFA's Penny Vinik Curator of Fashion Arts and co-author of "Gaetano Savini: The Man Who Was Brioni."
