Fashion Day Brings Project Runway Star, Business Professionals to Campus

March 22, 2016

What's it like being in the "business" of fashion? How competitive is it? Fashion students will soon find out at the College's first-annual Fashion Day on March 22, featuring alum and Lifetime Television's Project Runway star Sonjia Williams '07.

Williams will serve as the keynote speaker kicking off the event in de Witt Hall by discussing her experiences in the fashion world including her time as a contestant on Season 10 of Project Runway and Season 4 of Project Runway All-Stars. There will also be breakout sessions, a Career Networking session, and Alumni Panel and an Alumni Designer Showcase with light refreshments.

Fashion Day begins with Williams' talk, followed by an afternoon full of events. Breakout sessions include a talk by Boston-based Sam Sisakhti, CEO of UsTrendy and Lasell alum Lindsay Reilly ‘13, founder of Lindsay Tia Designs. Sisakhti founded UsTrendy, an online fashion boutique featuring work by young, talented fashion designers, in 2008. Reilley founded her company as a student at Lasell.

The Career Networking session will begin at 4 pm in de Witt Hall followed by the last two breakout sessions with Kathy Benharris, Owner of KB Productions and Isabel Carter, former designer of Infants clothing at Burberry London.

The Alumni Panel will begin at 6 pm in de Witt Hall followed by the Alumni Designer Showcase at 7 pm.
