Connected Learning Symposium Concludes

December 12, 2011

Lasell's signature showcase of Connected Learning projects, ranging from a video presentation about Lasell athletics, to musical performances and posters representing collaborative classroom work, concluded in December.

The Fall 2011 Connected Learning Symposium, which highlights examples of student work in their field of study through hands-on projects and research, ran from Monday. Dec. 5 through Dec. 9th.

Included in the symposium were poster presentations illustrating research on service quality at local restaurants, the study of fish populations at the Lasell Village Pond, a mock trial, displays of Chinese brush painting, highlights of a visual merchandising project at Morgan Memorial Goodwill in Boston involving donated wedding gowns, a presentation of historical research completed through the examination of students' personal geneology, a demonstration by students conducting a lower extremity orthopedic evaluation, a musical performance by the Lasell chorus and many more projects.

"The Symposium is a celebration of the connections students draw between what they are learning and events, issues, and circumstances existing beyond the walls of the classroom," said Jim Ostrow, Vice President for Academic Affairs at Lasell.

With the end of each semester, Lasell hosts a symposium that includes projects, presentations, shows, and performances illustrating students Connected Learning work, including collaborations between students and faculty.
