COM Students, Professors Head to DC for Communications Visit

November 11, 2015

Students from the Communications Department will embark on a two-day trip to Washington D.C. to learn from corporate and government relations professionals in the communications field, visit their offices and meet with congressional representatives on Capitol Hill.

Seven students representing different concentrations, from public relations to radio, along with Communications Professors Dana Janbek and Sarah Burrows will make the trip November 12 - 14. This is the third such trip made in recent years.

"The goal is to expose our students to various communication jobs and industries and to have them learn from professionals in the field," said Public Relations Professor Janbek.

Among the venues the students will visit are FleishmanHillard Public Relations, The National Press Club, Mobile Video Services, Ltd., the Newseum, Capitol Hill and a White House tour. The students will also meet DC-based alumni at a reception sponsored by the Lasell Alumni Relations Office.

In order to be considered, students needed to be either a sophomore, junior or senior Communications major with a GPA of 3.0 or higher.
