Two Programs Recognized for Excellence

February 05, 2018

Lasell College's undergraduate programs in business and education were recognized for excellence by Colleges of Distinction through the organization's new field of study badge program.

Lasell was first acknowledged by Colleges of Distinction in 2016, and is among 20 member institutions in Massachusetts, including Northeastern University, Curry College, and Emerson College. Member schools must uphold four distinctions of success - engaged students, great teaching, a vibrant community, and successful outcomes. Lasell's connected learning philosophy and affiliated symposium, service learning initiatives, and internship experiences are all noted as areas of merit by the organization.

As a college-search organization that compiles information for prospective higher education students and their guidance counselors, Colleges of Distinction publishes information on its website and in an annual guidebook. With a focus on a college's "unquantifiable features," they share information with students based on their career goals, programming interests, and the level of desired engagement at their future college or university.

Colleges of Distinction introduced its new field of study badges in 2018 as a way to recognize individual academic programs for curricular success. According to Wes Creel, founder of Colleges of Distinction, "Lasell College not only engages competent future employees in business and education, but also inspires them to be critical thinkers with unique, well-rounded insight."

Lasell's undergraduate business program includes majors in accounting, entrepreneurship, finance, management, international business, and marketing. The college's education program offers paths for students to pursue early childhood, elementary, and secondary licensures, as well as a non-licensure program in curriculum and instruction.
