Working within a student development framework, the professionals in the Student Affairs division at Lasell College strive to create an environment wherein students' learning is supported and their individual growth is enhanced. The Office of Career Services currently has an opening for a talented individual to join the Lasell College community in the position of Career Counselor. The position is currently available.
Responsibilities: Reporting to the Director, the Career Counselor position will have a strong focus on direct service with various constituencies (undergraduate students; graduate students; alumni) and on related career development programming. Specific functions will include: individual career counseling; development and implementation of career-related workshops, presentations and programs; assisting students with professional skill development (resume writing, interviewing techniques, job search skills); administration and interpretation of career assessment instruments; oversight of the Career Assistant program; employing social media platforms to communicate with students, alumni, and employers; and collaborating with the College's academic advising staff.
Qualifications: Bachelor's degree and at least one to two years of relevant experience in a higher education setting or as a recruiter/trainer in a corporate/business setting, required. Preferred candidates will have a master's degree in a related field (higher education, student development, counseling), and direct experience in the post-secondary career development setting. All candidates should demonstrate: an understanding of career development theory and practice; expertise in the use of career development assessment tools; knowledge of, and experience with, job search strategies and industry outreach; and comfort working with diverse populations.
