Lasell College, founded in 1851, is an independent, coeducational, non-sectarian institution of higher education located eight miles from Boston in Newton, Massachusetts. The College offers over 30 baccalaureate programs in, Communication, Environmental Studies, Graphic Design, Fashion, Athletic Training, Exercise Science, Education, Criminal Justice, Legal Studies, Law and Public Affairs, Mathematics, and several areas of Business, Social Science, and the Humanities. Master's degrees are offered in Management, Sport Management, Communication, and Education, each with several concentration and certificate options.
The College has undergone significant growth over the past ten years, including a 60 percent increase in its undergraduate population to over 1600 students. The graduate program began ten years ago and now enrolls 300 students. As a result, the College has focused aggressively on full-time faculty hiring. Future plans include significant expansion of both graduate and undergraduate program degree offerings.

Assistant Professor of Hospitality and Event Management
The Department of Management/Marketing at Lasell College in Newton, MA seeks an Assistant Professor of Hospitality and Event Management for a Fall 2013 appointment. More senior rank will be considered based on experience and other credentials.
Responsibilities: Teaching responsibilities could include undergraduate and graduate courses in a range of areas including Hospitality Management; Special Event Management; Food and Beverage Management; Global Issues in Hospitality; Casino Management, and other Hospitality/Event Management core courses depending upon the candidate's area of specialization. Chair, Education Department
The Education Department at Lasell College, Newton, Massachusetts, invites applications for the position of Department Chair for a fall 2013 appointment. At the undergraduate level, the department offers initial licensure programs in elementary education, elementary mathematics, early childhood education, and secondary English, history, and mathematics. Graduate licensure programs include initial and professional licensure in both moderate disabilities (pre-K through grade 8) and elementary education. Department faculty work collaboratively to prepare teachers in a program that emphasizes reflective practice and substantial and diverse field experiences.
The chair is responsible for managing the ongoing operations of the department including implementing department and college policies; developing course schedules; budgeting; coordinating program assessment; facilitating curricular changes; advocating for the department within the College and in the wider community; fulfilling all state and federal reporting requirements; and meeting college requirements related to admissions, faculty evaluation, personnel, student field placements, student advising, faculty workload assignments, and reporting.
This is a faculty appointment with expectations for advising in all licensure programs and teaching courses in one or more licensure programs, including the graduate level; participation in institutional, administrative, and service activities; and maintaining an active agenda of scholarship and professional development. An earned doctorate in education or related field from an accredited institution;
- Demonstrated ability to work effectively with diverse communities;
- Commitment to high-quality field-focused teacher preparation;
- At least three years teaching experience in P-12 schools, preferably at the secondary level;
- Demonstrated leadership in assessment of student learning and program quality;
- Demonstrated ability to teach baccalaureate and/or master's level courses in one or more of the licensure areas offered by the department;
- Demonstrated ability to advise and support students in all programs at both the baccalaureate and graduate levels;
- Appropriate record of scholarly accomplishments.
In addition, these qualifications are highly preferred.
- Experience as chair or head of a similar department;
- Experience as a teacher and/or administrator in an urban setting;
- Familiarity with regulations and reporting requirements related to accreditation and teacher licensure;
- Experience using instructional technology, including Moodle or similar learning management system.
Appointment will be as associate or full professor in the Education Department, depending on experience and other credentials.
