Director of Student Accounts

Job Summary:

Reporting to the Controller, the Director of Student Accounts is responsible for managing critical student focused financial functions, including the Student Account Center for the College. The Director will oversee and supervise the team responsible for billing, cashiering, financial aid disbursement, collection and customer service. The Director will collaborate with internal and external constituents on issues related to compliance, reporting (FISAP/Perkins/Title IV), and fiscal monthly/quarterly/year-end processes.

Principal Duties and Responsibilities Include, but are not limited to:

• Ensure the completion of monthly and quarterly reconciliations and variance analysis for Student Accounts related balance sheets and income statements accounts; will be done in compliance with GAAP.
• Adjust billing rules each semester according to annual fee schedule and write new rules as necessary. Ensure all mechanisms in place to bill students' tuition, room and board and fees are accurate. Oversee application of payments to student accounts.
• Daily consultation with the Director of Student Financial Planning to ensure timely and accurate application of anticipated and disbursed aid on student accounts. Import, track and report on information through PowerCAMPUS and PowerFaids.
• Issue billing statements, monitor accounts and provide solutions to allow convenient means of payment, including reviewing and maintaining relationship with a third-party payment plan provider and developing online payment options. Collaborate with essential college departments and third-party agencies.
• Ensure that student account refunds are processed in a timely manner according to applicable cash management and federal rules and regulations.
• Oversee all departmental information disseminated, review and implement strategies.
• Assure compliance with all College policies, State, and Federal laws and develop procedures.
• Submit bi-annual reports to the State regarding student enrollment.
• Coordinate annual 1098-T reporting.
• Assist in annual audit process; including Financial Audit and Student Financial Aid Audit.
• Other duties as assigned.


• Bachelor's degree and at least 5 years student accounts experience required.
• Experience managing a staff, including student employees.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, including Outlook, Word, and Excel.
• Familiar with Student Receivable operating systems; PowerCAMPUS, Banner, and TMS experience preferred.
• Familiar with standard concepts, procedures and regulations within this field.
• Experience in a college/university setting preferred.
