Speaker: Marla Runyan
World-class, Olympic athlete and teacher of the visually impaired, Marla Runyan, will speak in de Witt Hall.

Runyan, who is also legally blind, will talk about her experiences and discuss her audiobook,“No Finish Line: Determining goals and leading beyond them.” As a three-time U.S. National champion at 5000-meters, Runyan knows firsthand about the power of sport and the importance of self-determination. When she was nine, Marla was diagnosed with Stargardt's Disease, a form of juvenile macular degeneration that causes progressive vision loss. Marla has two masters degrees in Deafblindness and Visual Impairment and has been teaching at Perkins School for the Blind since 2013.
