General FAQ:

How do I make an appointment?
Appointments can be made online via the patient portal, by calling 617-243-2451, or by stopping by our office in person.  Same day appointments are usually available if scheduled early in the day.

Do I need Health Insurance?
Yes.  Every student attending school in Massachusetts is required to have health insurance.

Is there any charge for using Health Services?
There is no charge to be seen at Health Services, but lab tests and prescriptions will be billed to your health insurance.  You are responsible for any costs not covered by your insurance.

Can I buy my prescriptions at Health Services?
Health Services will write prescriptions, but they must be filled at local pharmacies.  Health Services does have a partnership with Keyes Drug 617-244-2794 where you can order prescriptions and have them delivered to our office.

Is Health Services open during breaks?
Health Services is open during the winter and March breaks.  We are closed during the summer break.

What is a Patient Portal?
Lasell College's Patient Portal allows the students to access their electronic medical record at Lasell College. Having access to the Patient Portal gives students the ability to schedule appointments, complete health forms, update insurance information, print immunization records for internships or other needs, and allows students to send a secure message to the Health Services staff.

How do I find the Patient Portal?
The Patient Portal can be found using this link, or by visiting www.lasell.edu/healthservices and clicking on the Make an Appointment button.

New Student FAQ:

How do I log into the Patient Portal?
Use your Lasell College credentials to log onto the Patient Portal - do not include "@lasell.edu" when logging in (Ex. asmith, not asmith@lasell.edu).

I'm having trouble uploading forms in the Patient Portal. What do I do?
Once you are logged into the Patient Portal, you should follow the instructions on each page to upload your health forms.  Please note that the portal will time-out after 90 minutes of inactivity, so it is important to have all of your information on hand before logging in and starting the process.  Images must be .gif, .png, .tif, or .jpg. Documents must be .txt or .pdf. If you are still having issues, please contact Health Services directly. If you are unable to use the Patient Portal, you can use the paper forms, which can be found here, and fax them to our office at 617-243-2339.

What if I made a mistake when entering information into the Patient Portal?
Once you've entered an immunization date or uploaded a form, you cannot go back and change it. Not to worry, our staff will correct it during the review and verification process. Just re-enter the correct information and we can delete the incorrect information for you.

The Patient Portal kicks me out and doesn't save the information I've already entered.
The Patient Portal times out after 90 minutes of inactivity, so it is important to have all your information ready before you log in. Do not leave the patient portal until you have completed the form you are currently working on. There is no way to save a partially completed form but once you click submit, the form will be saved and you can always sign back in at a later time to complete the other forms.

What if I don't have any immunization records?
Massachusetts state law requires that students are immunized against:

  • Hepatitis B
  • MMR (Measles/Mumps/Rubella)
  • Tetanus
  • Varicella (Chicken Pox)
  • Meningitis (resident students only)

Your primary care provider or your high school health office should have a copy of your current immunization record.

If you cannot provide records showing vaccine history, you can have bloodwork done to show whether or not you have built up immunity to the diseases listed above. You will need to then get new vaccines based on these results. Contact your primary care provider as soon as possible, as this can take some time. If you have questions regarding your immunizations don't hesitate to call us at 617-243-2451 so we can help.

My doctor's office gave me a different form for my physical and immunizations, do I need to have them fill out the Lasell College forms too?
Many physician's offices print their own Physical Exam Form and Immunization Record from their electronic medical records system. This is perfectly acceptable to submit in lieu of the Lasell College specific forms.

What if my last physical was more than a year ago?
If your last physical was more than a year before enrolling at Lasell, you will need to see your primary care provider to get an updated physical before enrolling.

What if I can't get an appointment with my medical provider prior to the August 1st deadline?
Please obtain a copy of your Immunization Record and complete that portion prior to your scheduled appointment. Massachusetts state law mandates that we have your up-to-date immunization record to be eligible to register for classes. You can update the Student Physical Exam form once you have seen your medical provider and after August 1st if necessary.
