COACHING STAFF

Head Coach: Mary Tom
Head Volleyball Coach Mary Tom joined the Lasell College coaching staff in 1997 and after going 5-13 in her first season, Mary has turned the program around and the Lasers finished 1999 with a 22-8 record and an NAC conference championship in 2000 and 2001.   She is a 1997 graduate of Brandeis University where she received her Bachelor of Arts Degree.    Mary returned to Brandeis after a 15 year hiatus and was granted eligibility to participate in the volleyball program under Mary Sullivan, the same coach when she first matriculated into Brandeis in 1978.  She not only earned a starting position as a setter/outside hitter, she was voted captain by her teammates.   Mary finished out her playing career by being named Most Valuable Player for the Brandeis team in 1996.

In addition to coaching the Lasell women, Coaches Mary Tom and Karin Chue are heavily involved with the Beantown Minutemen Boys Volleyball Program.  Recently, the Beantown Black 16’s won a bid to compete in the Open Division at the JO Nationals in Minneapolis, MN.  This was the first time in volleyball history that a New England Team competed in an Open Division. The team placed 23rd in the country at the Nationals.

Assistant Coach: Massielle Morales
Assistant coach Massielle Morales joined the coaching staff in 2006 and graduated from Lasell College in 2004 with a degree in Criminal Justice and a double minor in math and psychology.  She finished her four year career at Lasell College ranked second in both kills (908) and blocks (144).  Morales currently resides in Dorchester and is a quality Assurance Analyst at First Marblehead Educational Resources.

2007 Season Wrap-up

The Lasers got off to a great start in the GNAC, finishing with an 11-3 record and a postseason appearance in the semi-finals, losing to #1 seed Johnson and Wales.  The offense was led this season by junior Kelsey Schmidt (Ballston Spa, NY) who finished with 272 kills, followed by junior middle hitter Nicole Wetterman (Dighton, MA) who had 192 kills.  Amanda Major (Southbury, CT) had another outstanding defensive year, finishing with 595 digs.
