COACHING STAFF

Head Coach: Lynne Kirouac is entering her third season at Lasell College. Coach Kirouac was named NEWLA coach of the year in 2006 and arrived at Lasell after four years with the Wayland High School Girls Lacrosse program. Kirouac is a graduate of UMASS Amherst and recieved her Masters in Education from Springfield College in 2000. Coach Kirouac is currently a Physical Education Teacher in Lexington Public Schools.

Assistant Coach: Caroline Silliman is returning this year as the assistant for women’s lacrosse. Coach Silliman received a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology from William Smith College in 1997. While at William Smith College she was a four year starter, two-time NCAA Division III All American and team Captain her junior and senior season. She helped lead her team to four NCAA Division III tournaments. She later received a Masters of Science Degree in Ecological Teaching and Learning in 2003 from Lesley University. She has worked as a Lead Teacher for Another Place to Grow, in Arlington, MA for five years. She was responsible for implementing yearly curriculum for four and five year olds in literacy, music, science and art programs.
2008 Season Preview
The women’s lacrosse team will have several key players returning and have a added large freshmen class. The team will be joining the Great Northeast Athletic Conference this spring after competing in the NEWLA the past four years. GNAC opponents include Emerson College, Norwich University and St Joseph’s College of Maine.
2008 Season Wrap-up
After starting the season off 0-4, the women’s lacrosse team won seven of their next eight games, finishing the season 7-7 overall and 3-2 in the GNAC. It was the inaugural year for the team competing in the GNAC and they were very competitive, making a appearance in the GNAC semi-finals, losing to Norwich.
Leading the scoring for the team was junior Caitlyn Murphy (Katonah, NY) with 60 goals and 10 assists. Rookie Tina Canavan (Stonington, CT) has a great first year, scoring 45 goals and 13 assists. Both Murphy and Canavan were named to the GNAC All-Tournament team. Sophomore Andrea Ward (Hingham, MA) added 15 goals and 13 assists, and freshman Chelsea Caren (Redding, CT) finished with 13 goals and eight assists. In the net, junior Tashell Morrison (Long Island, NY) ended the season with a 9.10 GAA and 58 saves in 309 minutes of play. Rookie Kristin Coderre (Monson, MA) saw significant time, playing 362 minutes and finishing with 73 saves and a 12.59 GAA.
Murphy was named to the GNAC All-Conference First Team and was selected as the GNAC co-player of the yera. Junior defender Cassandra Hasse (Ridgewood, NJ) was also named to the GNAC All-Conference First Team. Tina Canavan was named to the GNAC All-Conference Second Team along w/Caren.
The Lasers will graduate senior starting defenders Krystal Ortiz (Lowell, MA) and Tricia Canavan (Stonington, CT) who both had very successful careers for Lasell anchoring the defense. The future looks bright with several starting players returning next year.
