2006-2007 Review
The women’s basketball team finished this season 13-13 overall and 10-8 in the NAC. They earned a #4 seed in the NAC tournament and lost in the quarterfinal round to Husson College 60-70. Senior point guards Justine Hill (Carver, MA) and Courtney Casserly (Stoughton, MA) each finished their basketball career at Lasell College with some record breaking statistics. Hill holds the women’s single season assists record of 166, breaking her own record from the last season . Hill also finished her career with 336 career assists which is a new record for the women’s program. Casserly joined the 1,000 point club this season and eventually broke the women’s career scoring record, which now stands at 1,244 points.
Junior Lauren Picozzi (Coventry, RI) led the team in rebounds with 151 this season and also had 15 blocks on the year. Fellow junior Christina DeLuca (Johnston, RI) also had a solid year, playing all 26 games and averaging 8.8 points per game. Sophomore Shauna Kelly (North Quincy, MA) played very well towards the end of the season, as did sophomore Katie Schumitz (Milford, CT) who averaged seven points per game. The women will return a solid core of players for the 2007-2008 season as they move into the Great Northeast Athletic Conference.
