COACHING STAFF

Head Coach: Giovanni A. Pacini Giovanni Pacini enters his 25th year in coaching and 10th as head coach at Lasell College. As the architect of the Lasell program, Pacini has led his teams to seven winning seasons, six trips to the North Atlantic Conference finals, two NAC championships, and trips to both the NCAA national and ECAC regional championship tournaments. In addition, the program has earned an NCAA regional Top 10 ranking and a # 3 seed in the NCAA national championship tournament. He has been voted “Coach of the Year” by the North Atlantic Conference in 2000, 2002 and 2006 and also by the Eastern Massachusetts High School Coaches Association in 2006. His involvement with the game spans from youth to the professional level working alongside some of the most noted coaches in the world. He serves the National Soccer Coaches Association of America as the Massachusetts State Technical Coordinator and College Task Force Chairman for its Soccer Ambassadors Program. He holds the NSCAA Advanced National and Premier Diplomas and is a member of the National Goalkeeper Academy staff. Coach Pacini directs Make The Save Goalkeeper Training and is the Technical Director for Canton Youth Soccer. His articles on player development have appeared in the NSCAA Journal, Soccer New England, MYSA Bay Stater, and NCAA News. He lives in Braintree, MA with wife Christine.
Assistant Coach: Ryan Michelangelo Coach Michelangelo brings a wealth of experience and enthusiasm to the Lasell program. Joining the program in 2003, Michelangelo has been invaluable in the recruiting effort which consistently attracts top level players to the Lasell soccer program. Prior to his being named assistant, he was a standout player for the Lasell program as a midfielder. During his tenure as student-athlete, he was named to the NSCAA All Region Academic Team and the North Atlantic Conference All Academic Team in 2002 and 2003. He holds the NSCAA Advanced Regional and State Goalkeeper Diplomas. He plans to wed fiancée Kelly in August, 2007.
2007 Review After a slow start to the season, the Lasers finished with a 10-8 record and an appearance in the Great Northeast Athletic Conference semi-finals. This was the first year of competition in the GNAC for Lasell, and they more than held their own with a 9-2 GNAC record. Junior forward Zach Gagne (Somerset, MA) led the Lasers in scoring with 13 goals, along with two assists and was named to the GNAC All-Conference first team. Senior midfielder Brian Whelan (Weymouth, MA) capped off an impressive career with three goals and seven assists which earned him a spot on the GNAC All-Conference second team. Fellow senior forward Tim Brennan (Raymond, NH) netted three goals and added one assist in his final year for the Lasers. In the net, starting sophomore goalkeeper Julian Dutton (Madison, CT) finished the year with 115 saves and a 9-8 record and earned a spot on the GNAC All-Tournament team along with rookie defender Brandon Hanss (Halifax, MA).
The Lasers will graduate seven seniors in 2007. Along with the offense of Whelan and Brennan, Lasell will lose forward Bol Anyoun (Arlington, MA), and defenders Mike Welch (Raymond, NH), Ryan Shaughnessy (Wrentham, MA) and Mike Chagnon (Leominster, MA) in addition to goalkeeper Eddie DeGurski (Medford, MA).
