Patrick M. O'ConnorHospitality & Event Management with Minor in Law & Business, Class of 2012

What kinds of clubs and activities are you involved in?
Blue Key Society, VP Tennis Club, Hospitality Club, Resident Assistant

What is an internship or volunteer experience that you have completed?
I interned with Sodexo doing special events and functions on campus.

Why did you choose Lasell College?
I loved the small campus with a tight knit community where students and faculty can interact and build strong partnerships. I also love that we are right outside of Boston so we can travel into the city with ease anytime we want to.

What is your favorite spot on campus?
I love the Quad. It is such a pretty spot on campus and it’s a great place to hang out and talk with friends.

What has been your favorite class so far and why?
Art History. I have never been too interested in art, but I took the class anyway. Everything about the class made me really think about life and the topic of art. The professor had great insight into the art and reasons for why the art was created. She also challenged us to use the knowledge we had to come up with our own ideas and perceptions of the art. It was a challenging course and unlike anything I have taken before. It really was a great course!

What kinds of things do you like to do off-campus?
I love to go out to dinner with my friends. There are some really amazing restaurants in the Newton area, and obviously Boston has amazing restaurants as well. I also love to go see plays and musicals in Boston. I am a theater geek at heart and love to go to shows.

What is one of your favorite memories so far at Lasell?
One of my best memories from Lasell is from my first day of classes here. I had just transferred to Lasell for the Spring semester and I didn’t know anyone. I was in the Campus Center getting dinner and a girl in my dorm came up to me and told me to come eat with her. She was so nice and full of energy, and that was what I found throughout the campus in those first few weeks. Everyone was so warm and welcoming and the girl I sat with that first day is one of my closet friends now.
