Why did you choose to attend Lasell?
I chose Lasell for the academics, the location and the athletics the school has to offer. When I was looking for a school I had three very specific wants. First, I wanted a range of fashion majors that I could explore and find my niche in. Second, I wanted to be situated near a medium sized city. And lastly, I wanted to opportunity to compete at a NCAA Division III level of athletics. Lasell had all of my qualifications and it was the perfect fit!

What activities are you involved in?
I am currently entering my third year on the women’s basketball team.

Have you studied abroad yet?
This summer I’m very excited to have the opportunity to attend the University of Richmond in London, England. I’ve always wanted to study abroad, but was never able to because of basketball. Lasell worked with me and helped make it possible for me to experience a different culture without sacrificing my athletics.

What has been your favorite Connected Learning project/experience so far?
This past semester in my marketing class, groups worked with a non-profit organization and came up with a marketing strategy for them. This was an interesting experience because it blended our classroom knowledge with real world application. Connected learning is great because it eases you into the real-world in a way that allows you to understand the caliber of work that will be expected of you.

What is your favorite Lasell event or tradition?
The Torchlight Parade is my absolute favorite tradition here at Lasell. At the end of the school year, graduating seniors give a lit torch to an underclassman. Participants’ parade across the campus at night, and the effect is a beautiful sea of flames and a very moving and emotional rite of passage.

What has been your favorite class at Lasell?
My favorite class at Lasell was my Fashion 101 course. This class is the one that piqued my excitement for my major, and all the possibilities a future in fashion holds. My Professor, Richard Bath, is extremely knowledgeable about the industry and it was captivating to hear him lecture and participate in his discussions.

Do you have a favorite Lasell professor or mentor?
One of my favorite professors has been Professor Sarahbeth Golden. I took two of her courses, Honors 101 and Psychology 101. She had a tangible excitement about both classes that she taught, as well as a down-to-earth and approachable personality. One of the great things about Lasell is that you can build personal connections with the teacher because you aren’t just a number in a lecture, and this was my first experience of really connecting with a professor.

Where is your favorite place to hang out on campus?
I absolutely love hanging out at the volleyball beach court on nice days. It’s a beautiful location nestled between the Victorian houses and shaded slightly by trees. It doesn’t get better than enjoying the weather and watching my friends play.

What do you like to do off campus or in Boston?
One of my favorite parts of Boston is visiting all the delicious restaurants in the North End. I’ve had some of the best Italian food I’ve ever tasted there, it has a bunch of great bakeries, and its historical feel is a great part of the experience as well.

Do you have an interesting story or great memory you could share to a prospective student?
An interesting part about my time at Lasell is that I switched my major three times before finally choosing one to stick with. I actually switched for the first time after my very first class here. I’ve switched between fashion design, fashion communication, and finally landed on fashion merchandising. Lasell made the transition between majors as painless as possible. I’ve loved getting a little taste of the entire fashion department here on campus and I feel confident in my final decision after having explored my options.
