I am an Inside Sales Representative with the Red Sox, where my main responsibilities include selling various season ticket packages, as well as group tickets and events. While studying as an undergrad at Lasell and even during my Masters as well, I had the opportunity to take courses that were able to introduce me to the world of sales in sports. These classes turned out to be very important ones, as I learned things in those classes that I still use in my role today.

I always knew I wanted to work in the sports industry, but was unsure of how to get there. Through meeting various professors, and taking advantage of different opportunities that were presented to me, I was able to gain valuable experience through an internship in pro sports. This eventually led to more opportunities to meet and network with sports executives from other teams within the area. The more I was able to network with other sports professionals, the more I learned about the sports industry until eventually I was able to obtain my current role with the Red Sox. My career path started at Lasell, and I was fortunate enough to learn from people that were able to point me in the right direction.

The best connected learning experience I had at Lasell was being able to work within a professional sports property while working towards graduation. I was fortunate to have professors and advisors that were always looking out for my best interests, and one day made me aware of an opportunity for an internship with a professional indoor lacrosse team called the Boston Blazers. At the time this team played at TD Garden, and as a long time Boston sports fan, being able to intern in that building and see how professional sports teams function on a day to day basis was a great experience. It was through this experience that I was able to realize that the sports industry was where I wanted to work after college.

I was able to gain a lot of experience while I was at Lasell. Being able to study sports management as an undergrad and experience the sports industry through an internship only made it easier to want to learn more while obtaining a Master’s degree later on. Whether it learning about how various departments in professional sports properties functioned, or seeing it first hand while interning with the Blazers, it was all information that gave me an advantage once I was hired by the Red Sox. All of the concepts I learned at Lasell are still tools I use today in my current role, and hopefully future roles as well.
