EXPERIENCES AT LASELL:
The hands-on learning helped me to gain the experience and skills needed to both obtain my position as well as excel in it each day. My Service Quality course shifted my way of thinking by placing the most value on client experience. Each day, I think of my actions and how they impact the client experience. Ultimately, I would not have a job if I didn’t have delegates coming to events.
During my time at Lasell, I worked closely with Dr. Melissa Van Hyfte on the Connected Learning Symposium. This was the first time I worked directly in the conference industry. It is actually what motivated me to pursue my career in this field. It was a great experience to work alongside someone who was able to mentor and teach me about the industry. After seeing the Symposium, I felt a sense of accomplishment and pride.
My advice to future students would be to take every opportunity you can. Do as much volunteer work as you can, not only will it improve your resume, but it will help you to build connections within the hospitality community. Never be afraid to seek out an opportunity.
