Your first year here will be one of important
connections, lasting friendships, and perhaps a
new sense of freedom. Our First Year Experience
will draw you into all aspects of life at Lasell.
You'll explore the campus with other first year
students, be invited to social events by your
peer mentor, and find many who are eager to
answer your questions and concerns.
We take a three-prong approach to your transition
to college life as you form relationships and adjust
to new academic demands.
First Year Advisor
Your First Year Advisor will become an important
member of your team. He or she will help you link
what you learn in class to connected learning
experiences that move you toward your goal. If you
don't have a plan yet, don't worry—your advisor will
brainstorm with you to chart a course. Of course, he
or she will also be there when you just want to talk.
First Year Seminar
Open to all incoming students, the First Year Seminar is
a fun way to learn about the many resources on campus
and gain valuable academic skills. You'll bond with
classmates and faculty as you go on field trips and
enjoy an occasional meal together. The course meets
once each week from September through late November.
FYS is co-taught by a faculty member and an upperclass
student who share their knowledge of Lasell and strategies
for success.
First Year Peer Mentor
When you want to get a fresh perspective from someone
who's been there and done that, turn to your peer mentor.
He or she can offer opinions and advice on everything from
favorite entrees to weekend activities to making the most of
academic opportunities.
