What was one of your most meaningful experiences?
Connecting with the community I lived in and connecting with other students that came from all different cultural backgrounds.  I became a regular at the outdoor market and a small bakery near my apartment, and got to be on a first name basis with both!  It was a great way to practice my Italian, as they practiced their English with me.  It really helped me engage in the culture and made me feel more at "home".

Why should Lasell students study abroad?
Lasell students should study abroad to broaden their perspectives on everything from learning in a classroom to intercultural situations they will encounter.  It is a way for students to break down barriers or get out of their comfort zones.  Studying abroad gives you an upper hand when it comes to job searches after graduation or applying for internships.  Employers like to see a student who's ambitious and strengthened their character while abroad.

What is your number one piece of advice for students studying abroad?
To enter into the experience with an open mind and not place any expectations on your semester.  To also take advantage of every opportunity you possibly can!

What is a typical day in the life when studying abroad?
When I wasn't traveling on the weekends, I would be in class once a day Monday-Thursday.  Having long weekends gave me the advantage of traveling more and spending some of them exploring more of Italy.  Typically, I ate at home mostly, aside from the occasional quick pizza or panini lunch bites and roommate dinners out.  Just taking walks around the city in the beginning and exploring every street and little shop helped me become acquainted with the city quickly.  Overall, it was not what I did on a day to day basis or the small mundane things I did that stood out, but rather the experiences I will remember forever from this journey.
