Study Abroad

What was one of your most meaningful experiences?
One of my most meaningful experiences was doing a hiking trip outside of Dublin city. My friend and I mapped a route through a series of buses and walks to the base of a mountain. The views from the summit were absolutely spectacular and reminded me how beautiful the world is. It was a chance to slip outside of the city and remember how incredible this opportunity was. We met people along the way who told use about the mountain and history of the trails. It allowed me to connect with the country and was a day I will never forget.

Why should Lasell students study abroad?
It is such an incredible experience to see the world and make connections. Being abroad allowed me the opportunity to become more independent as well as grow as a person. A student should study abroad because it also allows them to experience a different style of learning and studying. It is out of the normal comfort zone, but such an amazing opportunity.

What is your number one piece of advice for students studying abroad?
Relax. It will all be okay. Whether it is the Lasell Study Abroad office, a global ambassador, or the study abroad provider, there will always be someone there to help. They are not the first one to study abroad in a forgein country and someone can always be there to help. This mind set helped make the transition easier.

What is a typical day in the life when studying abroad?
My typical day consisted of an internship through my study abroad provider. I would either wake up and go to my internship until 530 in the city center or have class until 4. After classes I would make dinner, work on a little homework, and hang out with my friends either in the dorm or find new places in the city to explore! The weekends were always jam-packed full of exploring Dublin, Ireland, or other countries in Europe.
