Lasell Students Explore the Amazon

Lasell's Ecotourism in Brazil trip is an annual event in which professors travel with a group of students to explore the Amazon rainforest through the eyes of eco-tourists and professionals. Ecotourism in Brazil is a one week on-the-ground, service-based experience. During their stay, students are taking educational trips to learn about the region's ecosystem and visiting local communities and non-government organizations that help sustain the economy of the Amazonian locals. Participating students were selected last fall to participate in the inaugural trip to Brazil that is part of Lasell's International Service Learning Initiative. They are keeping a journal of their experience; you can read excerpts below or visit ecotourismatlasell.blogspot.com.
