Swimming with the Stingrays

January 17, 2017

Today was the first day we got up without preparing to head to TNK. We were all upset that we didn't get much time at the school but were still grateful to have gotten any time there at all.

Instead of heading to TNK, we woke up bright and early to eat breakfast and get on our way to swim with stingrays! We were all very excited, as this activity was one we had been looking forward to all week. Being so eager to get there, the ride felt long. When we finally arrived, we all geared up and jumped on the boat to head out to the stingrays. The boat ride there was one to remember with pellets of rain whipped at our faces but luckily the rain stopped by the time we got to the stingrays and most of us had a terrifying but amazing experience swimming with them.

After the stingray adventure we took a few hours to explore some shops and stop for lunch. It was nice to dig into to some familiar junk food for lunch like pizza and burgers and we all enjoyed walking the streets and checking out the stores. We stopped for souvenirs and ice cream before finally heading back to the hotel for dinner.

That night we had 3 different kinds of yummy pizza for dinner at the hotel. Afterwards we started getting ready to go out with Amber and some of her friends to celebrate our last night in Antigua and see what their nightlife is like. The first stop we made was at a karaoke bar and we all sang some American favorites and had fun with the locals. Afterwards, we went to another bar in English Harbor called Abrakadabras and we danced the night away to some American music but also to a lot of popular songs from the Caribbean. Overall it was a great day and we got to experience many different and fun things.
