Living-Learning Communities and Academic Clusters

Living-Learning Communities
Living-Learning Communities (LLC) at Lasell College are an opportunity for first year students to live and engage in academic studies together as a group. They bring faculty and first year students together for thoughtful and engaging consideration of a chosen theme. Through discussion and hands-on projects, the Living/Learning Communities promote close relationships between first year students and faculty, staff, and peer upperclassmen, which will facilitate transition into Lasell College life.

In 2006 Lasell College will have two Learning Community opportunities, LLC I: Relationships, and LLC II: Citizenship and Community Building. Each of these LLCs groups 16-17 students together as a community of learners. Students will take a FYS together as well as live in the same residential environment. The Living–Learning communities are designed to provide students with an experience centered upon a theme of common interest while also facilitating their full integration into Lasell College life. Students, faculty, and staff in our LLCs are expected to provide support for each other’s learning and academic success.

Academic Clusters
First year Academic Clusters involve students taking a group of courses together as a cohort. When courses are linked together, the faculty are able to provide opportunities to connect disciplines in interesting ways through collaborative projects. Academic clusters help students to develop academic relationships amongst themselves and with faculty both in and out of the classroom.
