Brianne Kujawski
Taking Action on World Problems

In our Honors 101 class we have covered a lot of what is going on in the world. We learned about how people act and we have had many interesting speakers come and share their knowledge with us.

I personally think the topic of Darfur is interesting because it is one of the biggest problems in the world and not many people are educated on the topic. I've learned a lot from the class, many more things than I would have known if I did not attend the class. I learned why the genocide is going on and how unaided the people in Darfur and the surrounding nations are.

I feel the student-led course on Darfur was worthwhile because a good number of students attended it. Also, the Darfur Day the class put on was a great success, raising over $300 in T-shirt sales to give to one of the Darfur support organizations, not to mention all of the people who gained awareness from that day.

In creating a research presentation for our Honors 101 class, Kacie, Ali and I decided to focus on the Darfur region and their struggle with genocide. The media effects how people are educated on topics such as this one.
