Sore Muscles and Big Gains for Charity
Honors students join community collaboration and turn out more than 35 volunteers for this year’s Newton Charity Lawn and Leaf Day, November 10
On a beautiful and chilly (!) fall Saturday, Lasell Honors students joined with members of the Multicultural Student Union, Mexico Shoulder to Shoulder, and the Boston chapters of the national Latina sorority Omega Phi Beta as well as the Nu Chapter of the national fraternity La Unidad Latina Lambda Upsilon Lambda, Inc.
Why??? To rake lawns in support of children’s education in Mexico!
We had an excellent day! Thanks to great volunteers and our generous Newton, Weston and Dedham neighbors, we generated over $3000 for the non-profit charity Niños de Veracruz (Children of Veracruz, Mexico). Read about our non profit.
Guess what? That non-profit, NDV, was founded by Lasell college students, and Lasell Honors students have served as Presidents, officers and participants for all four years of its existence. Go Honors! Go NDV! Meet NDV’s Presidential Quartet. |
