What is your teaching philosophy for Lasell courses?
"In my classes, students are encouraged to think critically about the world in which we live and the issues which impact individuals and actors within the Criminal Justice system. I infuse my curriculum with Connected Learning strategies which enable me to introduce experiential learning in my classroom and take students outside of the classroom and into the "real world."
What do you like about teaching at Lasell?
"Teaching at Lasell College allows me to be my most creative self. I can move beyond simply ‘delivering content’ to supporting students in their quest to locate, interpret and apply the most current thinking in the Criminal Justice field."
What is important for your students to take away from your classes?
"I want students to leave my class inspired by the educational experience and intellectually stimulated. During class, students are challenged to stretch and reach for a higher level of learning that encourages critical thinking and requires real world application."
How does your professional background influence your time in the classroom with students?
"Having worked in the field for over 20 years, I draw upon my professional experiences and networks to enhance my teaching and the learning environment for the students. In addition to sharing my own experiences and insights, I enjoy bringing guest speakers to campus who are themselves immersed in the most current criminal justice issues. Students are able to engage in dialog with these practitioners in a safe and intimate environment; gaining relevant knowledge while making professional connections for internships and beyond."
