Education Admission Requirements

Candidates seeking admission to Lasell College's M.Ed. graduate degree programs must hold a bachelor's degree from an accredited institution and demonstrate through academic background and/or work experience the ability to succeed in graduate studies. GRE/GMAT scores are not required. Lasell's M.Ed. in Education offers Initial and Professional Licensure for:

Admission Requirements Checklist:

  1. Online application
  2. Official transcripts of all college-level coursework *
  3. MTEL Communication & Literacy reading and writing subtests (Information on the MTEL is available here.)
  4. Two letters of recommendation 
  5. A one page personal statement describing your goals, strengths and potential for achievement in graduate school

Recommended minimum GPA of 2.75 in undergraduate coursework. You may complete up to 6 credits as a non-matriculated student while you work toward these requirements, but will not be allowed to register for more than 6 credits.

Additional program requirements:
The Education Department will review your transcripts for evidence of completing coursework in areas tests on the MTEL General Curriculum tests. You may be advised to complete additional coursework to support your success in the program. In particular, you MUST complete a course in child or human development by the completion of 18 credits in the M.Ed. program.

As an approved Massachusetts teacher licensure program, Lasell incorporates requirements for passing required sections of the licensure test, MTEL:

  • Communication & Literacy, reading subtest - by the completion of 6 graduate credits
  • Communication & Literacy, writing subtest - by the completion of 6 graduate credits
  • General Curriculum, multi-subject - by the completion of 9 graduate credits
  • General Curriculum, mathematics - by the completion of 9 graduate credits
  • Foundations of Reading - before entering the practicum
