Professor Loredana Padurean holds a Ph.D. in management, an M.A. in Economics and Communication in Tourism from University of Lugano in Switzerland, and a BA in International Relations from Romania. She has international teaching experience in Switzerland, Italy, India and in the United States at Brandeis University. Prior to moving to the United States, Professor Padurean lived in Switzerland for 7 years, where she was actively involved in the service industry while pursuing her academic career. She is Managing Partner and founder of C2B, an innovative consulting company in Switzerland.
For her Ph.D. dissertation, Professor Padurean took on the task of reviving a flailing resort in a remote Swiss Alpine town. Together with a business partner, Professor Padurean took over a hotel, a restaurant and ski resort management to recreate a financially successful tourist market; the resort is now successfully running, and Professor Padurean’s findings and research were published in the Cornell Hospitality Quarterly Journal (CQ) in 2011; they were also presented at the Annual Congress of the World Tourism Organization. She has also won two Swiss National Research Foundation Scholarships. Professor Padurean’s professional background has provided much insight and knowledge to the industry, but her true passion remains teaching students.
What is important for your students to take away from your classes?
Learning is an interactive and exciting process, where both students and professors are essential components of a very complex system. I want my students to feel passionate about being here at Lasell and positive and optimistic about their future. I want them to believe that not even the sky is the limit and no dreams are too big. Your college education is more than just a pile of books. It is an experience given by your friends, your colleagues, your professors, your successes and your failures. It will help you grow and it will impact the rest of your life. Make the very best of it!
