Biography:
Professor Bruce McKinnon’s professional background has been as a visible GM/COO/CEO in several start-ups, re-starts, turnarounds and family owned companies. His “sweet spot” is to commercialize, scale and make profitable the dreams and ideas of entrepreneurs.

His leadership style is profiled in a popular Harvard Business School case study which incidentally is his preferred Teaching & Learning method.

Professor McKinnon has had leadership roles in industries undergoing rapid transformation such as in the launch of cell phones, cable TV, software development, digital printing and distribution, and at a large law firm.

Professor McKinnon combines strategic thinking and operational discipline with a focus on the Customer Experience. Some of the clients that he has worked with and advised to include: Warner Brothers, Cingular Wireless, Choate, Hall & Stewart, Wall Street Journal, Viacom Inc., Bloomberg, AMC Networks, and Dun & Bradstreet.

He has been hands-on with clients ranging from urban high schools to helmet designers. With a passion for football and athletics, he was a Massachusetts high school football official for three years and is the long-running President of the Boston Latin School Varsity Club.

At Lasell, Professor McKinnon teaches courses in Organizational Behavior, Change Management, and Growing Companies. He is actively involved with students in developing and mentoring them, and is also an active member of the Small Business Institute at Lasell.

Professor McKinnon received his AB cum laude from Harvard College and an MBA from Harvard Business School.

His personal motto is “Actions speak louder than words.”
