Fashion and Advertising: A Vintage Catalogue

The Lasell Fashion Collection is a significant teaching and learning resource that provides the community with tangible items from which to study historic dress and its symbolic value. The Collection depends on the generosity of donors who continue to offer unique artifacts that speak to culture and artistic expression.

Recently, philanthropist, author and avid art collector Mr. Frederic Sharf and his wife Jean donated an assortment of vintage print advertising that features the latest in fashion and lifestyle trends from the 1920s through the 1960s. As a senior level honors project, Alexandra Faszewski has spent two semesters dating and documenting unique facts about fashion messages including advertising themes conveyed in each composition.

The results of this Connected Learning endeavor is available to the public in the form of an online educational catalogue. Please enjoy the wonderful content, which is both informative and inspirational.
